Trevor Poffenroth has been at the University of Calgary since 2017, currently as Chief Information Officer (CIO), and previously as Chief Technology Officer (CTO), and Director. With over 20 years of experience in IT leadership, he has a proven track record of driving innovation and delivering results.
As the CIO, Trevor is responsible for the university's information technology strategy and operations, including infrastructure, security, applications, client, and research computing services. Trevor is an outgoing people-first leader, who builds strong teams through open conversation and genuine trust. He works closely with university leaders, faculty, and staff to identify and implement technology solutions that support the university's mission of teaching, research, and community engagement.
Before joining the University of Calgary, Trevor had leadership positions in IT in Repsol, Talisman Energy, and Shaw Communications. In these roles Trevor drove collaboration with peers and business leaders to align IT Infrastructure Strategy in meeting business goals. Trevor brought a skill in understanding and anticipating customer needs and building timely solutions to meet those.
Trevor holds a Bachelor of Science in Archaeology from the University of Calgary.
